When Did You Last Feel Truly Free?

Nov 01, 2026

When did you last feel creative and expanded, as if your world has opened up?

When did you last feel total opportunity?

When did you last feel freedom? As if there were possibilities everywhere, and the way you are living was actually connected to what matters to you? Connected with every choice you make, and every single corner of your life?

I ask because I used to feel safe and secure based on what I’d been modeled, and what I thought I needed. Life in “the American way.” I had a nest-egg and I thought it was enough to build my life on.

I thought that’s what equaled opportunity or expansion.

But it wasn’t. At least not for me.

I had to disconnect from so much of it to become open again. To see the possibilities, to travel around the world, to study… to give myself something real.

It’s been an incredible thing.

Over and over, I had to choose to come back and rebuild the foundation of my life, every single corner of it, so more and more of it expressed the same vision:

Expansion.

Opportunity.

Freedom.

So that these weren’t simply experiences I had when I traveled, went on retreat, or stepped outside my ordinary life.

I wanted them woven into the very foundation of how I live.

You see, just as we talked in last week’s newsletter: life is magic. And when I say “magic,” I don’t mean a fairytale definition.

I mean there’s air and sun and moon and stars, and we’re rotating around the sun on a spinning ball. Surrounded by a bubble of an atmosphere that is a perfect womb for life to thrive.

Yeah, that’s f***ing magical.

But part of the magic of life is about learning to come into conscious relationship with the reality of what’s actually happening, rather than simply living through the ideas expectations and structures we’ve created.

And allowing that relationship with life to inform how we live.

How we choose, what we create, and how we Participate.

Because, you get to participate in life.

And within the very real circumstances of your life, you have choices.

Now, I’m not telling you to quit your job, sell everything and go nomadic. You don’t need a “revolution.”

Or do you?

You see, I honestly believe, much of the life we’re functioning through is a construct.

Some of it is outdated. Much of it is based on survival, transaction, and expectations we rarely stop to question.

Some of it has served us so well.

But what I want for us is to have a living, breathing, everyday connection to what’s real, and then to allow everything else to grow from there: how you set up your finances, your home, where you live, how you love.

What you contribute to the world.

But the more we lie in bed spinning in our own heads, the more we lose contact with what’s actually happening in life…

And the less available we become, the more we recognize the possibilities in front of us.

(And when you realise how much power you have as a woman in the fullness of your own nature, it’s really quite something.)

There’s something extraordinary about a woman who is healthy, alive, connected to herself, and genuinely enjoying her life.

A woman who knows how to take responsibility for herself without making herself wrong.

Who can be powerful and tender.

Independent and deeply connected.

Who can create, contribute, love, receive, and participate in life with her whole being.

A woman living in relationship with opportunity and freedom.

Expansion.

It changes how she moves through the world.

It changes the room.

And yes, her aliveness can nourish and inspire the people around her.

But it also matters simply because it’s her life.

And that’s what I want to wake women up to.

So all of this is to say…

We have freedoms and opportunities as women that generations before us fought for, imagined, or never had the chance to experience.

(Those freedoms are — depending on where and how a woman lives — still not total).

Where we do have freedom, let’s not spend all of it chasing gold and property and safety through just material things. There’s nothing wrong with building financial security. Security matters enormously, but let’s not confuse having security with being fully alive.

Let’s not spend our entire lives chasing someone else’s version of success.

Take advantage of the freedom you have and become a woman of impact.

Use your energy.

Do great things because you can.

Change the room.

Learn how to orient yourself to reality. Keep bringing yourself back to that.

Because the creativity, the expansion, the real freedom you want… it’s all there. It’s all available to you.

You just need to know how to reach in and create access to it.

This will require you to develop capacities, create opportunities, and make changes that you haven’t yet imagined, and that is part of the adventure of being alive.

Blossoming Lotus Begins Next Week

If any of this speaks to something you’ve been feeling, I want to invite you into Blossoming Lotus, my new women’s developmental group.

Perhaps you’ve spent years holding everything together.

Being who everyone else needed you to be.

Building a life that looks successful, but doesn’t always feel like the fullest expression of who you are.

Or perhaps you’ve simply reached a point where you recognize that there are dimensions of yourself you’ve never really had the opportunity to discover or develop.

โ€‹Blossoming Lotus is a place to explore all of that.

To understand what has shaped you.

To recognize what you may have inherited without consciously choosing.

To discover parts of yourself that have never been named, recognized, or given the opportunity to flourish.

And to develop the capacities to bring more of yourself into the life you’re actually living.

Your own relationship with freedom, opportunity, and expansion.

P.S. Look around you. Look at our governments, our systems, the ways leadership is modeled, and the lives of the women around you.

I believe we need more women who are deeply connected to themselves, capable of holding complexity, willing to take responsibility, and able to bring their intelligence, compassion, creativity, and power into the world.

We need beautiful, powerful, feminine influence of inclusivity and incredible capacity.

The world is crying out for this work.

Women who have the opportunity to become more fully themselves — and the capacity to bring that into the world.

That’s part of why Blossoming Lotus matters so much to me.
