Something shifted. Here's where I am.

I am writing this from Texas.

Outside Austin, to be specific -- which is not where I expected to be. As an adult I've always picked the places I lived because I wanted to be there. I wanted to be there for the beauty, the nature, the location, educational opportunities and work, people, whatever it was that was pulling me to that area.

I've never wanted to live in Texas.

I left Idaho a few weeks ago and drove across the country alone. Two flat tires on the trailer. Rainbows everywhere. And the same day I arrived, I learned that people I knew had been lost in the flash floods in Tibet and Nepal.

I sat with the intense grief in a new place, in a new chapter of life, with almost nothing familiar around me.

Seeing the people that I know on videos, on the trip of a lifetime for them, happy and dancing and delighted and alive, so alive, and then wiped off the face of the planet an hour later. It's a real reality check.

You never know. You could die tomorrow. Literally.

I don't hold that as dark or negative. It is a real and clarifying awareness.

This is not the first time I have thrown myself into the unfamiliar.

In January 2020, I went to India for a month -- the first time in my working life I had taken real time off. I was exhausted in a way nothing could fix. I went to restore my health.

And something happened there that I did not expect.

For the first time in my life, I was fully taken care of. I rested. I received. I stopped managing everything.

And being in that space something in me began to soften. I took the time to really dive deep on that trip into my vision, into consciously creating my life in a way I'd never done before.

I came home with a deep clarity -- about my life, my relationships, how I had been living, and the direction I wanted to go.

What I discovered when I returned changed everything.

That experience is part of why I know what I know. I had the opportunity to live through an incredibly painful life transforming experience and gain so much wisdom and so many navigational skills from it. It also really pushed me to deep dive into so much of what has informed my work in the last six years.

It gave me a lived experience of how to be with the most painful things in life, and how to use those experiences as an opportunity for growth, deeper self-awareness, and life expansion.

As I said before, I did not come to Texas for the landscape.

I came because I needed to move into another phase.

There is a combination of things that brought me here. Two of the mentors I'm studying facilitation with are here. I also have two really deep friendships here, with families and homes that feel not only nourishing and supportive to me, but where I know I'm adding to their lives by being around them more.

This area has a lot of opportunity and business connections in the work that I do. It's also a better place for me to come and go from other places in the world right now. There are people here I need to meet, conversations I need to have, and space for me to refine this next level of the work I am bringing into the world that I have been building toward for a long time.

I am not settling in. I am putting myself in the fire. On purpose. On edge. In the build.

And in the middle of all of it -- the move, the grief, the complete reorientation -- something became very clear.

I know what I offer now. Completely.

I've been coaching actively in this newer way for the last four years. Before that, my coaching was more through the lens of health and wellness. But over these last four years, something has come together for me. Thirty years of studying, practicing, working with people, and exploring human development from so many different directions have become one coherent body of work.

There aren't lines in the sand anymore. I don't have to separate coaching from bodywork, health from the nervous system, or human development from relationships, leadership, and identity. Ayurveda, meditation, yoga, movement and exercise, my study and understanding of Vedic wisdom, psychology, the body, health -- all of it informs how I understand the person sitting in front of me and what might serve them in that moment.

These aren't separate bodies of knowledge to me anymore. They've become one body of work. A person doesn't experience their life in compartments, so it no longer makes sense to me to work with them that way.

And that's really where the EVOLVE Method has come from.

I didn't create EVOLVE and then start coaching through it. I began to recognize EVOLVE in the way I was already working. It gave me a way to name the different dimensions of a human life I had been working with all along — Energetics, Values, Origin, Living, Vision, and Embodiment — and to understand more clearly how they work together.

Having recordings and transcripts of my sessions has helped me see all of this with much more precision. When I'm with a client, I'm just with them. I'm fully present and responding to what is happening in real time. Everything I've experienced and learned is there in me, and I can access what is relevant based on the person in front of me, what is happening in their life, and where we are in the work.

Being able to step outside the sessions afterward has allowed me to see my own work more objectively. I can see the patterns in how I work, what I'm actually doing, and most importantly, what happens in my clients' lives as a result.

This clarity has come from watching it happen, over and over, in real people's real lives.

Let me give you an example…

A client came to me wanting an off switch.

She was deeply self-aware. Decades of meditation. She understood herself extraordinarily well.

And there were still situations she could not change.

When people she loved argued, she would immediately go to catastrophic thinking. When people at work did not follow what she knew was the right course of action, something in her would become intensely activated.

She could see it happening. She could not stop it.

"I don't want more awareness," she told me. "I want an off switch."

We did not find an off switch.

What we found was a much earlier moment -- a time when she had learned that uncertainty was unbearable, and the survival strategy she had developed to manage it. We found that strategy still running, many decades later, in completely different situations.

It was a nervous system and body response that immediately triggered survival. I'm using the word survival here, but what was actually happening was much more sophisticated than that.

She described that early experience as quicksand.

A place where none of your strategies work. Where you cannot get yourself out. You cannot control it, and nothing you do will let you hold on for safety. Where you have to wait for someone else to offer a lifeline.

Once we could see that -- actually see it and feel it at the level where it originated and still lived -- something shifted.

She made a significant financial decision involving people she loved. She communicated it. And she noticed something she had never felt before.

She was not scanning their faces to see if she had gotten it right.

She described herself as feeling whole.

"I didn't feel compartmentalized. It wasn't like telling them and then waiting to see what they thought. I felt just... whole."

She was also able to facilitate something at work where she offered what she had to offer without trying to control and manage it. She didn't take on the responsibility of changing the whole organization herself.

Her leadership began to shift. She was controlling and pushing less, and engaging and inspiring people more.

And that change happened from within her.

She came wanting to turn the reaction off.

She developed the ability to stay deeply connected to herself, even when the switch was on.

And this is what I notice most in the people I work with -- and in myself.

It is how different life feels from the inside.

The India trip was the beginning of a new cycle for me. This move to Texas feels like another one. And what I know now, standing inside this new chapter, is how completely different I feel inside my own life -- how I navigate, how I discern, how I meet what comes.

That is what I want to give to my clients.

A fundamentally different experience of being inside their own life. More connection with themselves, more clarity, more of a genuine ability to navigate life -- the situations, the challenges, everything.

That is what Deepen & Align builds.

This is what I mean when I say I work with the parts of your life you have not been able to solve with intelligence, success, or willpower.

This client understood her situation. But there were also things impacting how she experienced those situations that were outside her conscious awareness and shaping so much about how she experienced her life. (For 7 decades).

The missing piece was working at the level where the pattern actually lives -- in the nervous system and the body, and in the places and responses that developed before we had language for any of it.

That is what Deepen & Align is.

Six months. Private. Completely sequenced to you.

A sustained, private developmental journey, paced according to your nervous system, your patterns, and what is actually happening in your life.

The intention is to develop your ability to live and experience life more fully, clearly, joyfully, consciously -- to be fully involved in your life, with your senses and awareness present. To genuinely be here now, rather than living in the past, burdened, clouded, hazy, and stuck.

That's where my EVOLVE process comes in.

That's what this is about for me: freeing yourself to truly live.

What happened in Tibet and Nepal to friends and many thousands of other people -- and what happens every day, all over the world -- solidified my awareness of how important this work is and how important it is that we make use of our time here.

We could pass tomorrow.

At least let's live fully. Let's take advantage of this opportunity in time.

If something in this newsletter landed for you, that is worth paying attention to.

P.S. Here’s another example of how profoundly Deepen & Align works:โ€‹

One particular client had done significant coaching before she came to me. She was thoughtful, ambitious, highly coachable. She could leave sessions feeling elevated and energized.

And then she would return to baseline.

Something subtle had happened over time: she had become very good at following someone else's answers without developing greater access to her own.

My job was not to become another person whose answers she learned to follow.

We became curious about what was underneath her responses, what was creating them, and how to help her develop her relationship with herself and greater access to her own wisdom, her own voice, and her own intelligence.

Her relationships changed. Her work changed. Her relationship with herself changed.

That is the real result.

She developed greater access to her own discernment. Her own agency. Her own ability to navigate life and whatever comes.
